James L. Anderson ’85

James L. Anderson, with more than 25 years of communications experience, is generating conversations and watercooler moments within the TV and media landscape. Anderson is the head of corporate communications and marketing for WarnerMedia, one of the most powerful portfolios of iconic entertainment, news and sports brands. As a member of the senior leadership team, Anderson has executive oversight of corporate media and talent relations, events, internal communications; and corporate marketing strategies as it relates to reputation, employee engagement, equity and inclusion, and corporate social responsibility.

Prior to his current role, Anderson was senior vice president, communications for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, and TCM, serving as the chief spokesperson and advisor to the president. A veteran communications executive in media and entertainment, he is known for positioning brands within respective marketplaces and supervising the media campaigns of more than fifty television series. Prior to joining WarnerMedia (formerly Time Warner), Anderson was senior vice president of public relations and publicity for Carsey-Werner, overseeing talent and community relations.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre at Denison University in Granville, Ohio where he is on the Board of Trustees. He is a graduate of The John E. Anderson School of Management at UCLA in partnership with the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program. Active in the creative and business communities, Anderson serves on the boards of several organizations where he champions inclusion and advocates for representation in the communications industry. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
