David Gewant ’90


David is Co-Founder and Managing Director at Pure Portfolios, a progressive wealth management firm. At Pure, David oversees operations and takes part in investment management, business development and client service.

David spent the past 25 years in financial services in the New York and Portland markets where he managed assets for private clients, family offices and non-profits, and worked in institutional equity sales and research. Prior to his current endeavor, David held the position of Division Investment Executive with U.S. Trust where he was responsible for managing client-facing teams across the western region.

David embarked on his entrepreneurial journey at Pure to pioneer industry change to better serve clients’ investment and planning needs. His focus is on reducing the cost of investing, embracing innovative fee structures, promoting transparency, and building trust through robust weekly content. As a result, his mission at Pure is not only to create a unique client-centric firm, but also to challenge and disrupt the investment industry where conflicts of interest and sales cultures are prevalent.

David earned a BA from Denison University, and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from University of Portland. He holds both the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. David serves on President Weinberg’s Board of Advisors, is a student and alumni Mentor, and an Admission Ambassador. He is active in the nonprofit community in Portland and enjoys skiing, fly fishing and spending time with his wife and 3 boys.
